Moving Out

"For now, my blog will chronicle my efforts of moving out of my house."

I haven't done this at all, so I'll do it today.

Today I finally got hired by the hospital I volunteer at. I was suppose to start on March 1st, but only now was able to finalize the paperwork.

Then I found out that the timesheets are for 3/1 to 3/17. So I still get paid for all the work I did since March 1st!

Very happy at this news. Also trying to tutor every single student in the SoCal area. Tutoring can be surprisingly good side-income; I'm averaging about 500/month from tutoring alone.

Now it all comes down to finding a place to live.

  3. I believe that there is no greater adventure then when a man leaves his home for the first time. Just make sure to keep yourself active so you don't ever get bored and lonely and I'm sure you will do great! I am looking forward to your updates...

  5. Do you generally find that people are willing to pay for tutoring services from fellow students? I've tried looking a bit around here, in Florida, and for official tutors you usually need some sort of degree. Is it just a matter of offering your services? If I made even an extra 100/ month, I'd be so happy. And congrats on the job and back pay!

  10. If it really comes down to it, I think most places offer a single spaced cardboard box. The one I used to have had plenty of room for my belongings and came with Internet paid in the utilities. Only ran me about $15 of Monopoly money a month.

  13. Tutoring is definitely worth it, but here the only people that get hired as tutors are those with bachelors or masters in whatever subject.

  22. Students are often taken advantage of by their first-ever landlords. Be very, very careful before you sign that lease.
