Success
I guess my last post was confusing. It was a quote from the Simpsons.
Anyway, it looks like I'm finally going to be moving out. Found a great apartment that's not shady and cheap and quiet. It was listed on Craiglist two days ago, and today I met the owner. Really nice guy, not shady at all, everything looks good.
One issue though is that it has no refrigerator so I'm going to be buying one. It's crazy that new ones go for 500-1000 dollars, but there are plenty on Craigslist for 100-150 dollars. I don't know if there's anything particularly important about refrigerators that I have to look out for. If anyone knows any insider tips on buying refrigerators, please leave a comment.
I really don't get why people spend money on new cars. Used cars are the way to go people!

Hey congrats friend...enjoy the new space :)
ReplyDeleteYay for the new place.
ReplyDeletePeople usually buy new for the powertrain warranty, but you're right, it makes more sense to buy used. As far as fridges are concerned, there isn't much variation between them. Ice makers are pretty nice features though...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new place, man!
Hmm I have no idea about refrigerators, but good luck nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteMake sure they can run!
ReplyDeleteCongratz :D And yeah craiglist is the best
ReplyDeletelol i like the pic
ReplyDeletei know these people who are buying a new fridge for $1600!! It looks pretty cool but that is way too much money.
ReplyDeleteAlways go on craigslist to see if you can get some home furnishings as well! :D
ReplyDeleteOlder refrigerators, pretty much all used ones, are less energy efficient (can make your electricity bill go way up) and harmful to the environment.
ReplyDeleteWhat you should look for is a balance on price, energy efficiency and volume.
Also consider that people sell broken stuff con craiglist.
i sell refrigerators and refrigerator accessories
ReplyDeletemake sure it keeps stuff cold
Oh, it's too bad you didn't move a few months ago. We discarded a perfectly good refrigerator. (Nothing was wrong with it - but we upgraded our kitchen.) I would have GIVEN it to you.
ReplyDeleteI love side-by-side fridges, but they tend to be more expensive and for a lot of people, less practical. Get one with a decent ener-guide rating...it will save you money in the long run.
Congratulations on moving out! Best decision I ever made....
ReplyDeletePeople spend money on new cars as opposed to used cars for the same reason we buy new underwear
ReplyDelete...
True story.
i'm happy for u bro
ReplyDeletemake sure the fridge is an eco friendly one. or you'll end up paying a lot for powering that thing
ReplyDeleteThis great!
ReplyDeletegood luck man on moving, get a lot of boxes from dollar stores and stuff.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new place. Unfortunately, I know nothing about fridges. Good luck, man.
ReplyDeleteMake sure the fridge fits in the space you have available in the apartment and that you can open the fridge door all the way when it is in there!
ReplyDeletecongrats, youre right about the used cars bit
ReplyDeletewell, make sure theres no weird chemicals leaking out, and no old gross food still inside...other than that, youre on your own :P
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you found a suitable place.
ReplyDeleteTry to make sure the refrigerator doesn't leak. That would suck. Congrats on finding a non-shady apartment. And cheap and quiet sure is nice.
ReplyDeletewow man, just great blog, Following, u know what to do man... cya
ReplyDeletehope everything goes well for you.
ReplyDeleteLucky on moving out ;-)!!! I hoping to be moving out soon! Unfortunately I don't know too much about fridges but good luck :-)
ReplyDeletemakes loads of sense!
ReplyDeleteIf you have to finance a used car, your terms are horrid. Payment plans on new vehicles are more forgiving.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! It's always so exciting to move out. :p
ReplyDeleteI'm not the right person to comment on refrigerators, but good luck and I hope you find one that will match your awesome new apartment!
ReplyDeleteI always buy used cars.
